Junior Golf Development - Summer Program

The program’s goal is to introduce players to the game and progress their skills so that they will become participants who are active for life.  By building golfing success and confidence juniors will enjoy playing the game and all the benefits that the game of golf offers.




Level I - ages 4-6
FUNdamentals (SNAG Golf) Introduces the concepts of the grip, stance, balance and the swing in a very age appropriate fashion. Juniors experience success because of the equipment is developmentally appropriate and easy to use.

Introduction to the etiquette and safety issues involved with the game.

SNAG Golf equipment will be provided.

Level II- ages 6-10
Develop all of the fundamental movement skills, golf fundamental movement skills, and teach general overall sports skills. Open to boys and girls.

Key Concepts:
• Grip – effective and functioning grip
• Stance – routine or procedure for each shot
• Alignment – aiming the clubface and aligning the body
• Scoring – how to keep each other’s score
• Etiquette – where to stand, quite, bunkers, pitch marks
• Chipping/Pitching/Putting – angle of club at impact, loft, roll vs. carry
Ratio of 70% training to 30% competition, structuring the competition to address differences in age and abilities.

Level III - Ages 10-14

Train to Play. Optimize golf specific skill and build on competitive experiences.

Key concepts:
• Putting – distance control, green reading, ball position and aim
• Ball position for all swings
• Swing plane
• General physical condition and health – balance, flexibility, posture, core strength, stability, and cardiovascular endurance

Understanding the Rules of Golf and exceptional etiquette. Knowledge of how far they generally hit all clubs in their golf bag. Begin keeping handicaps. Begin interclub play and junior tournaments.

Level IV
Train to Compete. Provide year-round, high intensity, individual event and golf specific training. 

Key Concepts
  • Preparing and performing skills under a variety of competitive conditions during training.
  • Pitching- shot selection, stance balance and tempo.
  • Chipping- loft of club, stance and ball position
  • Bunkers- face angle, stance, ball position, spin vs roll
  • Sloping Lies- uphill, downhill, sidehill, ball position, body angle, balance and tempo.

Introduce yardage books, course charting, game management and analyzing rounds to optimize practice. 

    6 Individual Lessons June/ July/ Aug.
    10 Optional Supervised Practice Sessions that include drills and instuctional time.

"Kids On The Course" Program
Participants in this program should have completed at least 1 year of Level Two or should be participating in Level Two currently. This program will introduce the juniors and their families to the game of golf by providing instruction on the golf swing, rules, etiquette and playing the game. Each week’s session will include a half-hour clinic at the Woodcreek's Driving Range, followed by play on the golf course. Weekly clinics will cover a different aspect of the game including pre-swing fundamentals, the full swing with woods and irons, putting, chipping, pitching, sand play, rules, and etiquette. There will be a competition each week. This program requires parents to walk with their child's group a minimal number of times throughout the summer. Class fee includes instruction and play.
